Meet the New Faces in the Online MBA Ranking 2020

Released today, the QS Online MBA Rankings 2020 assess the online MBA offerings of 47 business schools worldwide. You can find out more about the methodology used to produce the rankings here.

Read on to find out more about the brand-new eight programs in our QS ranking, demonstrating how online education is expanding and becoming more and more accessible for all.

Chapman Graduate School of Business - FIU

Online MBA rank: 9

The Professional MBA (PMBA) Online at FIU isn’t only a brand-new entry, but it also managed to land a spot in the top 10 online programs this year at number nine overall. The program scored the third highest for class profile in the top 10.

Students must complete the twelve (12) core courses and two (2) specialization courses (total of 14 courses/42 credit hours) from the likes of Real Estate or Real Estate, along with three Professional Development Seminars.

There are five starts per year: August, October, January, March and May/June, and GMAT/GRE waivers for individuals with more than four years of professional experience.

The program costs US$42,000, and the cohort has surpassed gender parity with 53 percent female students (the fourth-highest percentage in the whole ranking) with an average of eight years’ work experience.

Vlerick Business School

Online MBA rank: 12

Vlerick’s online MBA program consists of 12 courses and a Knowledge in Action Project, completed over two years of study or in one year with the fast track option – and concludes with an interactive game (IMEx).

Students receive an online induction at the beginning of the course to introduce them to the Virtual Learning Environment and how to interact with the faculty, peers and support services teams. As part of the induction, participants are offered primers in ‘Statistics’ and ‘Finance and Accounting’.

Vlerick’s online MBA cohort has an average of 14 years’ work experience, 33 percent international students and 33 percent female students. Tuition for the online MBA is €37,500 (approx. US$40,530). Students can also choose from multiple start dates in January, April, and September.

Birmingham Business School

Online MBA rank: 17

The Birmingham Business School Online MBA is a 2.5-year, 180-credit course. This year’s cohort is made up of 69 percent international students (the highest proportion in the newly ranked online MBAs), and 30 percent female students.

Core courses in year 1 (60 credits) include marketing; operations management; organizational behavior and human resource management; year 2 core courses (60 credits) include entrepreneurship and innovation or corporate finance; critical integration in management or advanced strategy; economics & economic policy for business or service operations management; a dissertation (60 credits) in your final year.

The full program costs £20,160 (US$24,864).

Fox School of Business and Management

Online MBA rank: 18

The Fox Online MBA offers a number of flexible learning pathway courses through on-demand lecture videos and cutting-edge technology. Courses include: Contemporary Corporate Strategy; Managing and Developing Human Capital in the Enterprise; Negotiations; more.

At the beginning of your very first semester, you’ll join your classmates on campus for a week of networking, professional development, and your first course of the program.

Each course is delivered online over five weeks. Live and collaborative web conferencing sessions with faculty and classmates are held on Thursday nights from 8 pm – 10 pm EST; additional coursework and activities will be required throughout the week.

Students in the cohort have an average of 11.7 years’ work experience, and it also boasts gender parity with 50 percent female students. The program costs US$1,245 per credit hour with 48 credits in total.

Baylor University

Online MBA rank: 25

Students on the Baylor Online MBA program must complete 48-60 credit hours (this varies depending on if you need additional business foundation courses).

Participants will take obligatory foundation and core courses and can choose one communication course and one marketing course.

Total tuition with AACSB business bachelor's us US$51,264 or US$60,624 without AACSB business bachelor’s. Students in the cohort have an average of 11 years’ work experience, and 33 percent of the class are female.

Georgia Southern University

Online MBA rank: 38

Parker College of Business’ WebMBA is a team-based, 30-credit hour program that lasts for 21 months in total.

Prerequisites for the program are foundations of Business Statistics; Microeconomics; Financial Accounting; Corporate Finance.

Some elements of the program’s curriculum include a two-day mandatory orientation in Atlanta; as well as courses in Human Behavior in Organizations; Global and International Business’ Managerial Decision Analysis and more.

Class materials are developed for use on our learning management system, Desire2Learn (D2L), which is a learning platform that many universities throughout the country are also utilizing.  

Approximate tuition and fee cost assuming 30 credit hours are taken over five semesters is US$23,620. Students on the program have an average of nine years’ work experience, and 45 percent of the students are female.

University of South Florida – Muma College of Business

University of South Florida, Muma College of Business

Online MBA rank: 39

The online MBA at Muma is a 33-hour program, which can be completed in just four semesters if full-time students are waived from the foundation courses. Part-time students can complete the program in approximately three years.

Students can choose electives according to career aspirations, or select one of four concentrations in cybersecurity, data analytics, healthcare analytics or compliance, risk and anti-money laundering.

At the beginning of your program, you will attend The USF Online MBA Residency program, a required two-day, on-campus orientation to network with peers, meet faculty and visit with industry leaders. Online MBA students can engage in professional development throughout their program in various on-campus activities too.

The Online MBA is $750/credit hour for core and elective courses, and foundation courses are $535/per credit hour.

Students on the program have an average of 5.5 years’ work experience and 43 percent of participants are female.
