Management education forum in Shanghai

Deans from some of the world’s top business schools are heading to Shanghai this week to participate in a forum that will focus on innovation and entrepreneurship’s increasing importance to management education.

The deans of Fuqua School of Business, IE Business School and the University of New South Wales’ Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) will join an array of leaders from top business schools around the world, as well as accreditation and government education bodies, in attending the International Business School Shanghai Conference (IBSSC).

Management education’s role as driver of innovation and entrepreneurship

While it’s no secret that innovation and entrepreneurship have been increasing considerations among MBA programs offered by the world’s top business schools, the fifth biennial IBSSC will look at how management education can make best use of its position as a key driver of the kind of new enterprises that can bring sustainable economic growth to the world’ economies.

Indeed, the forum also aims to consider the relationship between innovation and entrepreneurship teaching at top business schools and sustainable development – as greater attention is paid to the societal impact of business.

Accreditation bodies, such as AACSB and AMBA, are now attaching greater importance to both innovation and sustainability as a result of these changes.

The ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ conference, to be held by Shanghai Jiao Tong University from October 9-10, will also feature a roundtable discussion over the future of management education in Asia.

Previous editions of the management education forum have dealt with themes that include ‘Reshaping Business Schools after the Crisis’ and ‘The Responsibilities of Business Schools’.
