Imperial College Business School to Offer Global MBA: MBA News main image
A new online global MBA has been launched this week by Imperial College Business School. The ‘Imperial Global MBA’, as it will be known, is a flexible, part-time, online program allowing students from all over the world to earn their MBA remotely.
According to the school’s press release, the new Imperial Global MBA comes partly in response to the growing popularity of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) which are offered by universities and business schools and now have nearly four million registered users across the globe.
The school has developed its own learning platform called ‘The Hub’ which will facilitate interactive learning and allow students to attend live lectures and chat via online forums.
The Hub will enable students to track their progress on the course and benchmark their work against the work of their fellow classmates. Course leaders will also be able to divide students into time zone specific workgroups in order to make collaboration on projects and assignments easier. Interactive forums and social media platforms allow for networking, via linking corporate partners and alumni of Imperial College Business School.
The global MBA builds off of the school’s previous distance learning MBA which was discontinued in 2012 in an effort to continually improve the MBA courses on offer at the school. The new Imperial Global MBA is a two-year long online program with students required to spend three weeks on the Imperial College Business School campus.

“Online learning has experienced a real surge in popularity over the last few years,” Professor G ‘Anand’ Anandalingam, dean of Imperial College Business School says. “This is because significant advancements in technology have allowed people to effectively learn and study without having to set foot in the lecture theatre. Through our innovative software, students will get a cutting-edge online learning experience that will make them feel that they are on campus. They will have the chance to really get to know one another and feel part of Imperial’s community despite being spread across the world.”
The course will begin teaching students in January 2015 and applications are now being accepted. A GMAT score is not a prerequisite but potential candidates are required to have five or more years work experience.
