The recent QS Business Master’s Rankings 2024: Marketing covers 131 schools offering master's degrees in marketing around the world. 

The rankings are compiled using five indicators: employability, alumni outcomes, value for money, thought leadership and class and faculty diversity, with data collected from a global survey of employers and other sources. Find out more about the methodology used here.

Top institutions for master's degrees in marketing in the US and Canada 

The United States has 32 of the 131 institutions in the world which are recognised for their marketing master’s programmes. Of these, only Columbia Business School’s MS in Marketing Science is included in the top 10 in the world. The university achieves a near perfect score (99.9) for alumni outcomes and the second-highest score in the rankings for thought leadership. 

Eleven US-based schools have secured positions in the global top 50 for marketing master's programmes this year. Across these universities, notable performance is observed in key indicators, particularly in value for money and alumni outcomes.  

Purdue University claims the top spot for the value for money indicator, with a total of eight US universities in the top 20 for this indicator and 21 universities in the top 50.  

Meanwhile, Columbia University excels in alumni outcomes, an indicator which has four US universities in the top 10, eight in the top 20, and 18 in the top 50. 

In the QS Business Master’s Rankings 2024: Marketing, only two Canadian universities make the list. One of those two entrants, Schulich School of Business at York University, has managed to secure a position in the global top 50 and is also ranked 10th in the world for alumni outcomes. 

Top institutions for master's degrees in marketing in Europe 

Europe hosts 75 of the 131 global universities recognised for marketing master’s programmes this year, with nine out of the top 10 institutions from Europe. France dominates, with half of the top 10 universities being located there, while the remaining four are either from the United Kingdom or Spain.  

37 European universities are ranked within the global top 50, with most of them being from the United Kingdom. The highest-ranking UK business school for a marketing master's degree is Imperial College Business School, ranked fourth globally.  

UK institutions perform well across the different ranking indicators, with Warwick Business School ranked first in the world for thought leadership, two places ahead of Imperial College Business School.  

Austria, Belgium, Germany, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden each have a single representative in this year's rankings. Italy, the Netherlands, and Switzerland each boast two institutions, while Greece and Portugal each contribute three.  

Notably, Spain stands out with a total of 10 institutions included in the rankings, making it the third most-represented European country, following the United Kingdom and France.  

Top institutions for master's degrees in marketing in Latin America 

Three universities from Latin America are represented in this year's ranking. The standout programme is the master's in marketing from the ESAN Graduate School of Business, ranked 91-100. Impressively, it is also positioned 33rd globally for the value for money indicator. 

Top institutions for master's degrees in marketing in Australia and New Zealand 

From the global list of 131 institutions, only four are from Australia, and there are no universities from New Zealand included in the ranking. The highest-ranked Australian university is Macquarie University, ranked 28th globally. Macquarie also notably ranks 16th for value for money. 

The four Australian institutions all achieve their strongest scores for class and faculty diversity, with all four ranked within the top 50 in the world for this indicator. La Trobe Business School’s Master of Marketing stands out in particular, ranked 15th for diversity. 

Top institutions for master's degrees in marketing in Asia 

Only six of the top master’s in marketing programmes are situated in the Asian region, with two each from Hong Kong, Thailand, and India. The Master of Science in Marketing from the City University of Hong Kong holds the highest rank in the region (44th).  

Both Hong Kong entrants, City University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, achieve notable rankings for the employability indicator, ranked 21st and 34th respectively. 

The top-ranked institution for master’s in marketing from Thailand is Thammasat Business School, ranked 91-100 globally. In India, the Institute Of Management Technology, Ghaziabad is the highest-ranked institution in this category, ranked 101+. 

Top institutions for master's degrees in marketing in Africa  

Only three African universities have made their way into the QS Business Master’s Rankings: Marketing this year. The Master in Business Management Marketing from the Mediterranean School of Business is the highest-ranked programme in Africa ranked 71-80. This university has scored well for employability, ranked 23rd globally.
